What is SPRED?
SPRED (Special Religious Education) is a program where people with developmental disabilities come together with a spiritual friend/catechist (21years and older) to share a one-on-one relationship and form with others a small faith community. SPRED fosters and nourishes spiritual and personal growth by helping those with developmental disabilities discover God's action and presence in their lives. SPRED gives parishioners with developmental disabilities an opportunity for celebration and worship and prepares them for the sacraments of initiation and reconciliation: Baptism, First Communion, Confirmation, and Penance (confession). During the course of the year, special liturgies are also celebrated as a community.
Diocesan Child Safety:
All Faith Formation Volunteers must meet the Diocese of Arlington's requirements prior to volunteering.
Please call Arden Blair in the parish office to make an appointment to begin this process.
Helpful Information for Current Catechists:
If PWC Schools close early or cancel evening activities due to weather, all classes offered at Sacred Heart will also be canceled.
