Saint Lucy Project

Almost a quarter of a million people in the Arlington Diocese are “food insecure,” meaning they do not know where their next meal is coming from. As a Catholic response to the hunger and food insecurity in our Diocese, Catholic Charities conducts a diocesan-wide outreach to collect and distribute food where it is most needed through the St. Lucy Project.

Due to our affiliation with Saint Lucy’s we are able to pick up donated food from Food Lion and receive food from Sheetz for the Food Pantry. We help Project Saint Lucy by donating food when we have extra and have helped with monetary donations when the shelves of the food bank are low.

Saint Margaret Cortona House

Located in Woodbridge is home to families with dependent children. Adult clients participate in case management, individual counseling, employment services, and life skills classes.  Children enjoy their own age-appropriate support and activities, including school support, arts and crafts, and peer activities.

Sacred Heart collects donations for the Saint Margaret Cortona House. Items always needed are cleaning supplies and personal care items.  These donations can be placed in the box next to Saint Mary's Room. A current complete list of items needed is posted above the donation box.

Office of Migration and Refugee Services

One of 104 national affiliates of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. Since its founding in 1975, the office has resettled and assisted over 20,000 refugees and asylees in the Northern Virginia community. All refugees that enter our program have been vetted by the U.S. State Department, and 89% of those we assist have helped the U.S. Military abroad.

As the largest refugee resettlement agency in the Commonwealth of Virginia, we expect to serve over 600 refugees, asylees, and Special Immigrant Visa holders this year alone. 8247 Shoppers Square Manassas, VA 20110 Phone: (571) 292-2259
